The proposed implementation of hudud law or the Syariah Crime Enactment II by the Kelantan government needs proper planning to ensure that it will run smoothly.
State Umno Liaison Committee chairman Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said among the preparations that needed to be done were research and preaching education pertaining to the implementation of the law.
"There is no problem. As Muslims, it is compulsory for us to support Islamic laws, it is unquestionable," he told reporters after opening the 15th Annual General Meeting of Kelantan Teachers' Welfare Organisation at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Jeli, Sunday.
He said this in response to the report that the Kelantan government was confident that it would be able to implement the hudud law early next year if passed by the Parliament.
Last Wednesday, Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob was reported as saying that the state government had been making preparations to table the Hudud Bill to Parliament.
Mustapa said Kelantan Umno Kelantan would bring the issue to be discussed at Umno Supreme Council meeting before the tabling of the bill.
