An Independent Committee reviewing the Management of Public Examinations is expected to submit a full report on proposed improvements and recommendations next month, said Education Director-General Datuk Dr Khair Mohamad Yusof.

He said the committee is still gathering input before issuing an interim report and a subsequent full report of the study's standard operating procedures (SOP) on management of public examinations by mid-December.

"The independent committee will review the SOP on the management of public examinations conducted by the Malaysian Examination Board and will help in further improving it," he told reporters after reviewing the SOP and safety management arrangements made for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination in the vault at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Anderson for the 42 exam centres, here this morning.

The committee, headed by former Chief Justice Tun Zaki Tun Azmi, was formed following the 2014 Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) question paper leak recently.

On the course of management of the question papers in the vault at SMK Anderson, Khair said the SOP was followed smoothly and that all procedures were adhered to.

Regarding the installation of closed circuit television cameras (CCTV) in all the vaults, he said the level of security will be enhanced and efforts were underway to complete the installation of CCTVs.

A total of 455,839 candidates are sitting for the SPM in 3,655 examination centres across the country starting today until Dec 4.
