Indian national pleads not guilty to trafficking meth

An Indian national was charged with trafficking in 4.9 kg of methamphetamine at the Sultan Ahmad Shah Airport here on Dec 26, at the Kuantan Magistrates Court today.
Abdulmunab Abdulkareem, 38, pleaded not guilty to the charge and Magistrate Rini Triany Mohd Ali set Feb 1 for remention.
He was charged under Section 39B (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act. Prosecution was led by deputy public prosecutor Naziah Mokhtar.
Meanwhile, in the same court, a consultant engineer with a private firm pleaded guilty to accepting a bribe from a waste disposal centre contractor on Oct 16 last year.
The magistrate sentenced Khusairi Namrun, 30, to one day in jail and fined him RM10,000 under the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009.
Khusairi had accepted RM750 from Zulhaimi Ismail in order not to inspect construction works on a leachate treatment plant at the Waste Disposal Centre in Padang Sertik, Bentong.
