Indonesia Earthquake: Residents report tremors felt in PJ, Shah Alam, Kajang

The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department received several reports from members of the public in Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam and Kajang who claimed they felt some tremors tonight.
The department said the first report was received by the Petaling Jaya Section 7 Fire and Rescue Department on claims that some tremors were felt at the PKNS flats there.
The Shah Alam Fire and Rescue Department also received distress calls, at 9.09pm, on reports of tremors felt at Block A of the Kampung Baru Hicom flat in Section 26.
As for the Kajang Fire and Rescue Department, their distress calls came in at 9.16pm on reports that tremors were felt at the Tiara Park Homes in Taman Bukit Ria.
Fire and rescue personnel have been sent to all the respective areas to conduct checks.
Earlier, a 7.9-magnitude earthquake struck the Mentawai Islands, off the western coast of Sumatra in Indonesia at 8.49pm Malaysian time.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department had initially reported that tremors were felt in Shah Alam, Subang and Klang in Selangor.
Following the earthquake, Indonesia and Australia had issued tsunami warnings, several of their local media reported. However, the tsunami warning for Indonesia was lifted shortly after, TVRI quoted the Indonesian National Meteorological Agency as saying.
As for Australia, the tsunami warning issued for Christmas Island and Cocos Island, were still in effect at Press time.
