Indonesian man found burnt to death in hut

Fire-fighters found the burnt body of an Indonesian man after fire gutted a hut next to a Siamese temple in Kuala Ketil near here today.

Kedah Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer Supt Nor Hafizah Muhammad Lukman said the fire-fighters found the body of Amran Sidik, 49, a permanent resident, at about 5.30am when they arrived at Kampung Raja Jalan to put out the fire.

"The body has been handed over to the police," she said in a statement.

Nor Hafizah said the department was notified of the fire at 5.18am and the first of the fire-fighters reached the scene about 10 minutes later.

The cause of the fire had yet to be determined, she said. -- Bernama
