Indonesian president begins his three-day official visit to Malaysia
Joko who is fondly known as Jokowi, arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at 3.50pm.
Indonesian president Joko Widodo begins his three-day official visit to Malaysia, today.
Fondly known as Jokowi, he arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at 3.50pm.
Jokowi, accompanied by his wife Iriana, cabinet ministers and other senior officials, was welcomed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
This is his maiden visit to Malaysia following his appointment as the Indonesian president last Oct 20.
The programme of the visit would include a State Welcoming Ceremony, an Audience with Their Majesties the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Raja Permaisuri Agong and a State Banquet this evening.
On 6 February 2015, Jokowi is scheduled to hold a restricted meeting with Najib followed by a Delegation Meeting. Najib and wife will also host an official luncheon in honour of Jokowi, Iriana and the Indonesian delegation.
Jokowi would be visiting Proton with a view to exploring cooperation opportunities between the two countries in the automotive field.
The visit would provide the opportunity for both leaders to take stock of the progress of the existing bilateral relations between the two countries as well as to exchange views on regional and global issue that are of common interests to Malaysia and Indonesia.
Indonesia is Malaysia’s 6th largest trading partner globally and 3rd largest trading partner among member countries of ASEAN. In 2013, total trade between the two countries was recorded at RM61.1 billion and RM54.7 billion for the period of January till November 2014.
