Indonesian folk songs with modified lyrics enlivened the Hasanuddin Hall at the Indonesian Embassy here Friday, welcoming the arrival of Indonesian President Joko Widodo and his wife, Iriana.
The songs, modified and presented by the choir from the Indonesian School of Kuala Lumpur (SIK), were sang soon after Joko or popularly known as Jokowi and Iriana arrived at the embassy at 6.15pm.
Certain humorous questions in the lyrics, such as "Pak Jokowi siapa yang punya?" (To whom Pak Jokowi belongs?) and "Ibu Riana siapa yang punya?" (To whom Ibu Riana belongs?) were answered cheerfully with the words "Yang Punya Indonesia!" (Belongs to Indonesia!) by over 300 Indonesian people at the embassy.

SIK music teacher M.Dendang Soleh said the lyrics were purposely modified for the event, in which the Indonesian people in Malaysia get the chance to be up close and personal with the president.
"The folk songs used to be played at scout jamborees ... old songs, children songs, but capable of uplifting spirits," he told Bernama.
In his brief speech, Jokowi promised that all problems faced by Indonesian nationals in any part of the world would be addressed accordingly by the government.
