Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today said there was still an International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) red notice out for the arrest of four suspects linked to the murder of North Korean Kim Jong-nam.
Ahmad Zahid, who is also Home Minister, said the government had left it to Interpol to assess and manage the issue.
"I think the president of Interpol, who is also Deputy Interior Minister of China, Meng Hongwei, will direct the executive director of Interpol, Jargon Stock, to address the issue (based on the standard operating procedure agreed among countries requesting information and action based on mutual legal assistance from a member country of Interpol)," he said.
Ahmad Zahid was speaking to reporters after the joint opening of the meetings of UMNO and its Women, Youth, and Puteri wings in the Kota Marudu UMNO Division here, today.
Also present were Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) acting president Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili, who is also Kota Marudu Member of Parliament.
On March 16, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the Malaysian police had obtained Interpol's red notice for the arrest of four North Korean suspects in the murder of Kim Jong Nam, the older half brother of North Korea's leader. -- BERNAMA
