Police are on the hunt for six suspects in relation to the death of a security guard at Jalan Temenggong, Pasir Putih, early this morning.
In the incident at 7.38am, the victim, only known as Raymond, 35 was found in a pool of blood at the car porch of a house.
Three elderly women who are the occupants of the house were unaware of what transpired.
The victim who was from Buntong was found with slash wounds to his head and is believed to have been involved in a brawl several hours before the incident.
Ipoh district police chief Asst Comm Sum Chang Keong said the night before the incident, the victim and six suspects were involved in a fight at a restaurant near the housing area.
"The victim's employer was having a drink at the restaurant with four of his workers when the six suspects who came in three cars approached them.
"The six had then attacked them using machete. One worker had his left arm slashed while the other managed to escape," he told reporters at a press conference today.
He said the victim was believed to have tried to escape at the housing area in Jalan Temenggong before he was slashed to death.
Sum said the victim's wallet and handphone were found on him.
"His friend who had sustained slash wounds to his left arm had been sent to hospital for treatment. The body has been sent to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for post-mortem," he said.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
"We are also investigating if the victim had previous criminal record," he added.
