KANGAR: Islamic education is the most important foundation in efforts to develop and empower Muslims, said the Regent of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail.
He said Islamic studies were important to ensure that the next generation of Muslims in this state continue to adhere to true Islamic teachings based on the manhaj (methodology) of Ahlus Sunnah Waljamaah as enshrined in the Constitution of the Perlis Government 1948.
"To empower Islamic education in the state, the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) in collaboration with the Perlis Islamic Religious Department (JAIPs) have developed the Perlis Afternoon Religious School curriculum (SAPPs) which is implemented in line with the Al-Quran and Fardu Ain (KAFA) curriculum under the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim)," he said after officiating at the Perlis State Islamic Education Institutions Appreciation Ceremony 2023, here tonight.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin also launched the 'Tafsir Ringkas Faizuddin' book at the event.
Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli, state Mufti Datuk Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin, state Islamic religious affairs, education, youth and sports, human resource development, information and non-governmental organisations committee chairman Muhammad Azmir Azizan and other executive councillors were also in attendance.
Jakim education division head Hanifuddin Roslan and its chief assistant director Mohd Anuar Abd Rani were also present.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin said to further strengthen the curriculum and align it with the co-curriculum under the Ministry of Education, Perlis Integration Schools (SIPs) have been introduced to optimise Islamic studies in the state.
"This event seeks to celebrate and give appreciation to the individuals and parties who have worked hard to make the Islamic education agenda in this state a success," he added.
He also said as part of the efforts to empower Islamic studies in Perlis, the previous MAIPs meeting decided in principle to give management permission to JAIPs to develop the complex in Guar Jentik as the state's Islamic training centre.
