Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has urged all parties to focus on lowering the price of goods for the benefit of the people, and not harp on racial issues.
He said everyone should move on as the issue which he raised on the boycott of traders and had sparked racial sentiment, was over.
"As far as I am concerned, the issue has been resolved. The Cabinet has made its decision and wants us to move forward... YB Liow (MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai) and I have agreed to put a stop to this matter as it does not benefit the rakyat," he said.
He was speaking to reporters after launching the Fight Against Middlemen and Lower Price of Goods campaign organised by Syed Supermarket here today.
On a separate matter, Ismail Sabri called for a halt to having middlemen distribute agriculture-based products to bring down the price of goods.
"Efforts to reduce dependence on middlemen is not easy as this has become a way of life for producers.
"Nevertheless, the ministry is providing alternatives, including channelling goods from producers to the relevant agencies such as FAMA to market the products," he said.
