The issue pertaining the bungalow purchase by Lim Guan Eng along Jalan Pinhorn, George Town near here, was not purposely raised by UMNO or Barisan Nasional (BN) to 'attack' the Penang chief minister, said Penang UMNO Liaison Committee deputy chairman Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican.

Reezal Merican, who is also Deputy Foreign Minister, said the issue was raised by Tasek Gelugor MP Datuk Shabudin Yahaya in Parliament to seek clarification from several other parties, and not just Lim alone.

"Datuk Shabudin requested for answers from the Minister of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the Valuation Department regarding the alleged sale of the bungalow below the market price.

"He (Shabudin) did not attack Lim personally, but was rather seeking clarification, I think the chief minister should also come forward and answer," he told reporters here on Saturday.

He was commenting on press reports which quoted state DAP chairman Chow Koon Yeow as saying the issue of the bungalow purchase by Lim, and linking it to sale of land in Taman Manggis, was merely a personal attack against the Penang chief.
