KUALA LUMPUR:Political stability at a time when the country is facing the COVID-19 pandemic crisis is difficult to achieve, let alone some leaders are seen to continue to place personal interests above the interests of the people.
President of the Malaysian Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, Datuk Seri Akhbar Satar believes that integrity and honesty is the most difficult thing to find among leaders today.
"The most important factor for a respected leader is integrity, that cannot be questioned. In Malaysia, not only integrity but also honesty does not exist.
"Acts are not in line with words, promises are not fulfilled. They are entering politics not to help the people but to seek wealth and power.
"When the people face problems, the country's economy plummets, many small Bumiputera-owned companies have to be shut down, what are their actions and plans to help?" he said in an interview with AWANI Pagi program, today.
The attitude of politicians who are seen as indifferent to the people's criticism, added Akhbar, will have a negative impact on the country's image.
"The country's image will be tarnished, the people will be tired and lose confidence. The country has spent a lot of money, and on top of that there are debts.
"The root of all these problems is corruption. As long as corruption exists, political stability will never exist.
"It is difficult to find statesmen who really care about the people. I hope, if there are, they can return to their original purpose, plan for the fate of the people.
"Remember, the vote given to you by the people is hope, especially the subordinates who are suffering, their financial resources are affected and some cannot afford to eat.
"If they are no longer able to earn a living in the right way, it is not impossible that they will choose the wrong path to continue survival. And if this happens, this is a matter for the country," he said.Enable GingerCannot connect to Ginger Check your internet connection or reload the browserDisable in this text fieldEditEdit in GingerEdit in Ginger×
