Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar today confirmed the identity of the man who was killed at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2) on February 13 as Kim Jong Nam.
Khalid however declined to reveal how they derived to that conclusion due to security reasons.
"So we have now established that Kim Chol is Kim Jong Nam.
"We have fulfilled the requirements of the laws on this identification. I am not going to tell you how we do it due to police security, as well as safety and security of the witnesses, but I am just confirming that the body which earlier on was known as Kim Chol has been confirmed to be Kim Jong Nam," said Khalid at a press conference, here, today.
In the attack caught on the airport's security camera footages, two women were seen approaching Jong Nam and smothered a type of substance over his face while he was waiting for his flight out.
Authorities later confirmed that the substance was VX nerve agent and that the two attackers were recruited by a team of North Koreans.
North Korea however denied any responsibility and accused Malaysia of being swayed by its enemies.
