“I imagined a tsunami, where we are buried by mud”
That was the reaction given by Naim Ran Yunos, 36, a victim of the mudslide at KM52.4 of the Kuala Lumpur-Karak (KLK) Highway on Wednesday.
The mudslide incident had caused Naim who was with his father Mohd Yunos Ismail, 62, at that time to panic.
“I was driving through the heavy rain. There was a tanker in front of me. The tanker suddenly skidded. I thought an accident occurred because the road was slippery.
“The car behind me and I suddenly halted. It was only at that moment that we saw a lot of mud flowing from the right side of the road,” said Naim.
Naim who was on his way back from Kuala Lumpur to Kuantan, said the incident which happened so fast had caused them to run, leaving their vehicles.
“The mud flowed fast from the hill. I could not even reverse my car. My father and I had to run leaving the car as the mud was flowing fast.
“We panicked and started to think of all sorts of things. It was like being in a tsunami of mudslide. The mud covering all of us. I was thinking to that extreme,” said Naim.
According to Naim, he was traumatised by the incident.
He is however thankful that he and his father are safe from the incident.
