IT-Bag Redux

We take a gander at this season’s haul of buzzworthy bags! Spring Summer 2015 heralds the return of the It-bag, some reincarnated but mostly debuts being revealed in a host of shapes and sizes (even micro-sized).

Chanel

It may look like a homespun crossbody bag but this hobo chic Girl Chanel bag is no thrift store reject as it mimics the quintessential Chanel cardigan with its iconic braiding and tweed in dark blue. The bag embraces the fluidity of the body with its softness. The bag was inspired by the equally iconic suits Chanel has been celebrated for since the house's inception.

Coach

The Swagger is taking Coach into a whole new territory. High functionality and fashion quotient, the Swagger with its updated elements of archived details – signature turnlock, binding and hangtag will entice women of all ages, especially with the bright colours, practical sizes and several fabrication choices.

Céline

Céline’s brand-new Curved bag series is set for its own time in the spotlight, the epitome of minimalism, coming in three shapes: handbag, shoulder bag and clutch.

Miu Miu

The Matelasse bag is quite the statement piece with its colour-blocking, matelasse leather and strong ‘60s inspired silhouette. Playful and fashioned from buttery-soft leather, Miu Miu's signature matelassé bag is as nifty as it is luxurious.

Saint Laurent

The Anita bag is ultra-cool and is inspired by the ‘70s, capturing the new Saint Laurent zeitgeist to perfection. A cross-body bag to covet, this suede bag has both fringe and feathers to call upon the bohemian spirit within.

Loewe

The one bag that is generating so much buzz and rightly so, the Puzzle bag is a true work of innovation, being made of geometric pieces of leather joined together to create a tri-dimensional and foldable handbag. How amazing is that? It’s functional and convenient.

Fendi

The Fendi Peekaboo receives a jolt of “It-ness” with its micro incarnation but embodying the same craftsmanship and savoir faire as its larger sized siblings. This Micro Peekaboo bag may be miniature and “impractical” but it can be used as a clutch or a cross-body for any occasion.

Prada

This season’s Sound bag from Prada bears all the trademarks of the house with its neo-retro feel, defined structure and details, in this instance of Punto Lin top-stitching, tri-colour combination and a sleek push-lock closure.

Givenchy

The Pandora bag has morphed from its soft version from 2009 to a boxy, rigid one in 2013. With its modern and urban geometrical shape, the new Pandora Box bag is gaining a lot of celebrity fans.

Michael Kors

The Claire Messenger defines the Michael Kors aesthetics in its natural, classic styling with a pinch of rugged sportiness. It balances structure and polish with artisanal accents.

Dior

The Diorama is a bag that echoes Dior’s modernistic direction and is the definitive lady-like bag for the season. It is sharp, has architectural proportions, a metal chain strap and classic badge-like closure.

Louis Vuitton

The Besace Ronde bag has simple and fluid lines matched by its fierce jagged pattern that evokes the glory days of rock ‘n’ roll – for the bold and daring.

Gucci

The master of timeless and classic bag designs for the sophisticated jet setter. Twin pleasures for the season. The Bucket and Lady Web shoulder bags reflect the ‘70s vintage, bohemian vibe being wagered in the collection.

Hermès

Taking a playful spin on some classics, Hermès climbs aboard the bucket trend with one made of a wicker. The Farming Picnic bag gets an updated makeover with Barena calf leather trimming and a flat lid echoing picnic baskets or milk cans from the past.

Tod’s

The bucket bag is a huge success and Tod’s equestrian theme features the Bucket Bag with a ‘bridle handle’ in the form of a ‘slide-through lateral loop’ that is attached to the bag’s soft leather parts.

Moschino

Jeremy Scott has taken the brand to the fashionably whimsical, and curiously ironic. Last season he went from McDonald’s takeout chic to bubbly pink Barbie in all her fuchsia glory. Now there’s the fun Moschino Jacket bag that highlights the biker jacket! Injecting some personality into your wardrobe.
