The Malaysia Institute of Translation and Books (ITBM) Board of Director chairman Datuk Shahruddin Md Salleh has been terminated from his post with immediate effect.
The Education Ministry last night said the termination was based on the authority empowered to the Education Minister.
He was appointed as ITBM Board of Director chairman on Feb 1, 2010 until Jan 31, 2012, before reassuming the post when his contract was extended on Feb 1, 2012 until Jan 31, 2014.
However, on April 19, 2013, he had resigned from the post as he was involved in politics, according to the statement.
"But on July 1, 2013, he was reappointed by the Education Minister to hold the same position in ITBM until June 30, 2015.
"After the contract expired, his contract was again extended from July 1, 2015 until June 30 2017," the statement said.
