Malacca Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Idris Haron has denied allegations of being investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission after a surprise visit by MACC officers at his office in Seri Negeri, Ayer Keroh here on Monday.
According to Idris, the visit was a mere formality by MACC to shed light onto a series of investigation involving several State officers.
“MACC officers came to complete the investigations which they have started about a month and half ago.
“If I were investigated, it would have been carried out differently," said Idris to reporters after the launch of Pusat Komersil Hang Tuah Melaka in Ayer Keroh, here today.
Idris was commenting on a report published in an English daily on Monday about a visit by MACC officers at his office on Monday.
The report stated that MACC had reportedly recorded his statement and took several boxes containing documents believed to have links with the State government.
Idris has remained tight-lipped over the meeting citing that ‘it is classified’.
He stressed that it was the standard operating procedures (SOP) in taking statements from a chief minister to complete investigations involving State officers and employees.
He added that it was in synch in the State fundamentals to open more rooms for MACC to investigate in administration level.
