The Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) will summon Siti Zabedah Kasim to record a statement following her remarks on the existence ofgodwhich are deemed deviationist.

Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the state Islamic religious department can take action if the lawyer had committed anoffence.

"They can take action according to the Islamic enactment related to crime, faith and the spread of ideas that can destroy Islam," he told reporters after witnessing the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) and the Health Department, here Sunday.

Asyrafsaid the Jakim approach was to call up Siti Zabedah to discuss about her remarks on the existence of god madetoan online Chinese media recently.

"We do not want to lower her dignity and only want to get it straight from her mouth. I hope that she will turn up," he added. - BERNAMA
