Two men armed with a machete fled with RM754,000 in a robbery at the Road Transport Department's (RTD) office in Jalan Genting Kelang, Setapak here Monday.
Kuala Lumpur CID chief SAC Rusdi Mohd Isa said, in the incident at 5.40pm, the two suspects wearing crash helmets entered the premises via the back door.
He said the suspects pointed the weapon at a female officer before seizing the cash from the counter at the Revenue Unit room.
"At the time of the incident, two officers were in the process of counting the day's earnings," he said in a statement.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code.
Meanwhile, RTD director-general Datuk Nadzri Siron confirmed the incident when contacted by Bernama, and said the department has left the case to the police for further action.
