Jamaluddin Jarjis to be laid to rest after Asar prayers

The remains of Rompin Member of Parliament Tan Sri Dr Jamaluddin Jarjis who was killed in a helicopter crash in Semenyih Saturday will be laid to rest at Makam Masjid Negara (National Mosque Mausoleum) here after the Asar (afternoon) prayers today.

His eldest son Ikhwan Hafiz said the coffin bearing his father's remains was scheduled be brought out of the Kuala Hospital's (HKL) Forensics Department at about 11am.

He said the funeral prayers would be held at the Taman TAR Mosque in Ampang at 11.30 am before the coffin was brought to the family home at The Mines in Sri Kembangan.

"The burial will be held at Makam Masjid Negara after the Asar prayers," he said when met by reporters at the compound of HKL's Forensic Department here.

Members of the Royal Malay Regiment's 1st Battalion were seen readying to accompany the hearse.

Among the VIPs seen arriving at HKL's Forensic Deparment were Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, Dewan Negara president Tan Sri Abu Zahar Ujang, Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Ab Aziz Kaprawi and Malaysia's Ambassador to the United States, Datuk Dr Awang Adek Hussin.

Jamaluddin, who was also the chairman of Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia (PR1MA), and Datuk Azlin Alias, the principal private secretary of the prime minister, and four other people were flying back from Pekan, Pahang, to Subang, Selangor, when the AS3655N2 Dauphin (9M-1GB) helicopter went down in a rubber smallholding in Semenyih.

The four others have been identified as pilot Capt Clifford William Fournier; operations assistant Aidana Baizieva; Jamaluddin's bodyguard Razakan Seran and businessman Datuk Tan Huat Seang.
