Jamalul Kiram declares guerrilla warfare
First, he called for a unilateral ceasefire to avoid further bloodshed in the standoff in East Sabah. Now Jamalul Kiram III, who seem to be fickle-minded, has lifted the ceasefire order.
The Philippine Star quoted Jamalul saying that he has now declared a guerrilla warfare against the Malaysian security forces.
Jamalul has told his army who had entered Malaysian waters illegally to ‘reclaim’ Sabah, to soldier on as withdrawing was not an option.
“They are already there, so why come back?” Jamalul had told reporters at his residence in Taguig City.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the group, Abraham Idjirani said their army had been ordered to conduct “hit and run” operations against the Malaysians.
The group also maintained that Azzimudie Kiram, Jamalul’s younger brother who led the army to Malaysia, is still in Sabah.
Jamalul’s initial call for a ceasefire was rejected by the Malaysian government.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak had said the Sulu terrorists have to instead lay down their arms and surrender unconditionally.
