A Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) President Cup football player died while his friend was injured when the motorcycle they were riding collided with a car at KM43.5 of the Senai-Desaru Highway heading towards Desaru, Kota Tinggi here early this morning.
Seri Alam deputy police chief Supt Shahrul Anwar Md Idris, said in the 12.40am incident, Md Amirul Hakim Samsuddin, 18, and his friend Mohd Rafi Abu, 29, were in a convoy of several motorcycles from Pasir Gudang to celebrate the National Day.
"Md Amirul Hakim rode the motorcycle while Mohd Rafi was riding pillion. It was believed their motorcycle collided with a car," he said when contacted.
Shahrul Anwar said Md Amirul Hakim who was reported to be severely injured on the head, died on the way to Sultan Ismail Hospital, Pandan, here.
He said his friend was also sent to the same hospital for treatment while the car driver was not hurt.
