Jeffrey Kitingan confirms resignation as deputy minister

KOTA KINABALU:The President of Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR), Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan has confirmed his resignation as Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture.

Jeffrey, who has just been appointed as Sabah’s Deputy Chief Minister II said his resignation letter has already been submitted to Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

"Yes, it is true that I have resigned as deputy minister.

"The resignation is because we cannot hold two positions (at once)," he told Astro AWANI on Tuesday.

Earlier, Jeffrey was sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister II and Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry in the state Cabinet.

The swearing-in ceremony was performed before Yang Dipertua Negeri Sabah, Tun Juhar Mahiruddin this morning.
