The Johor government today denied reports that the water tariffs in the state would be increased between 10 and 12 percent early next year.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin in a brief statement on his Facebook page today said the state government had not received any request or proposal to increase water tariffs in the state.
On September 23, State Public Works, Rural and Regional Development Committee chairman Datuk Hasni Mohammad, was reported as saying that the state government would make a decision on increasing water tariffs in the state at the latest by early next year.
Hasni said Syarikat Air Johor (SAJ) Holdings Sdn Bhd had proposed a hike of 20.2 per cent but it was considered quite high and added that a 10 to 12 percent increase would be more reasonable considering the cost of living in the state.
