BATU PAHAT: Johor is the first location for the Program RIUH-Keluarga Malaysia which will be launched by the Communications and Multimedia Ministry (KKMM) next month.
Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa said the programme, aimed at promoting and strengthening the local creative industry, was approved by the Dewan Rakyat last year at a cost of RM20 million under Budget 2022.
"The ministry will cooperate with various parties including the private sector and full coverage will be given by Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM). It will be conducted in the form of a road show and also on a permanent basis in the federal capital, that is the River of Life (RoL), Kuala Lumpur.
"In Johor, we have received several suggestions on location, namely around central Johor, but I need to refer to the Menteri Besar (Datuk Hasni Mohammad) first," he told reporters after a ceremony for handing over post-flood assistance at Dewan Komuniti Ayer Hitam here today.
On the Komuniti Keluarga Malaysia, Annuar, who is also the MP for Ketereh, said the Cabinet last Wednesday approved the establishment of 1,800 Komuniti Keluarga Malaysia covering every state and parliamentary constituency in the country.
He said at least three Komuniti Keluarga Malaysia would be set up in each state constituency, to be chaired by the state executive councillor in charge of communications.
For the parliamentary level, the ministry would appoint a chairman and deputy chairman each to coordinate the implementation of programmes under Komuniti Keluarga Malaysia, he said.
He said 36,000 community members would be involved in the appointments to implement community activities based on three main focuses, with the first being to disseminate government information to the community and gather feedback from the people for submission to the government.
"The second focus is to give understanding to the community on government policies and also enhance the spirit of patriotism.
"The third is to encourage the mass adoption of the digital economy as a new way to modernise the people at the grassroots level through commercial programmes and activities using the digital platform," he added.
