Johor govt, Felda set up special committee to address issues faced by Felda community

Johor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the committee was jointly chaired by Felda Chairman, Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad and two related state executive councillors to address all issues particularly on land ownership, housing and Felda infrastructure areas in Johor.

He said this included Felda's second generation housing issue by Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd.

"In matters involving the issue of land ownership which are under the authority of the state government, be confident that the state government will help not only to expedite but also facilitate them," he said in his speech at the National Level ''Felda Ramadan Ihya Programme 2017 and Breaking of Fast with the Prime Minister at Felda Sungai Sayong here, tonight.

Also present was Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Shahrir.

Mohamed Khaled said the state would strive to hand over the land ownership to another 1,491 Felda settlers this year.

He said it involved settlers at Felda Simpang Waha and Felda Tenggaroh Selatan in Kota Tinggi, Felda Tenggaroh 4 and 5 in Mersing, Felda Maokil 1, 2, 3 and 4 in Muar, as well as Felda Bukit Batu in Kulai.

"We are also committed to resolving the remainder of the ownership applications involving another 3,533 settlers. It involved applications that are still in the process of being certified by the state government, measures for the settlement of the consolidated annual charges by the applicants and also review by Felda," he said.

Additionally, Mohamed Khaled said the state government had handed over the land ownership to 6,866 settlers since 2013 to date.

"Among them are Felda Pemanis 1; Felda Palong Timur 1, 2 and 3 in Segamat; Felda Tenggaroh 3 and 6 in Mersing; Felda Bukit Aping Barat in Kota Tinggi and Felda Layang-Layang in Kluang," he said.

Meanwhile, he said the state government had applied to the federal government to include the roads in Felda villages into the Malaysian Road Records Information System to enable them to be upgraded by the agency.

Johor now has 73 Felda settlements covering 13 Parliament and 21 State Legislative Assembly with 27,641 settlers and 146,000 voters, thus making it the second state with the most Felda settlements.
