Johor MB leaves it to MACC on the investigation on exco member

Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said today he leaves it entirely to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on the investigation on a member of the State Executive Council who was detained today.

He said he sympathised with the Exco member regarding the investigation on the corruption and misappropriation case involving assets in the state.

"We sympathise but I believe we leave it to the MACC to achieve justice in the matter (on corruption and asset misappropriation)," he said when approached by reporters after attending the Johor State Assembly sitting in Kota Iskandar, here today.

The State Exco member was detained about 11am when appearing at the MACC office in Johor Bahru.

On Feb 24, the MACC detained six individuals namely the son and a special officer to a State Exco Member, two developers, a lawyer and a member of the public who were believed to be involved in a corruption and asset misappropriation scandal in the state.

On Feb 28, the MACC detained another male contractor who was believed to be the seventh suspect in the case.

The Exco member concerned is now on leave from official duties until the case on the alleged corruption and asset misappropriation had been completed.

Three of the seven individuals who were remanded were later released on MACC bail on March 3 and 7, while the other four individuals were also released today on MACC bail. -- Bernama
