JOHOR BAHRU: Barisan Nasional (BN) has a clear understanding of the concept of power-sharing compared with other political parties, who are at loggerheads negotiating the distribution of seats in the Johor state election, said UMNO vice-president, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
"For BN, we are very clear on how the concept of power-sharing is to be implemented, we are very clear on the sharing of power between the parties through BN, while the rest, the other side, is not sure how (to go about it0 yet. That is why only BN can provide stability," he told reporters here last night.
Citing an example of PKR and MUDA, he claimed that; as both did not understand the power-sharing formula practiced by BN, it had caused their negotiations on the distribution of seats for the Johor polls to fail to reach agreement.
Mohamed Khaled, who is also the Pasir Gudang UMNO division chief, said BN was not a new coalition but was old and experienced, with its credibility proven before, and he hoped that all voters could accept the agenda, which was to create stability.
"The stability can only be achieved through BN, because in terms of BN's approach, we emphasis integration, not assimilation, and we are also based on long-standing relationships and values that we hold together," said the former Johor menteri besar.
Earlier, he received application forms from about 50 former members of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Tasek 64 branch, at the Jalan Tasek 21 operations room in Bandar Seri Alam here.
Yesterday, MUDA was reported to have said that PKR's move, in announcing their 20 candidates to contest the Johor poll, has ended the seat distribution negotiations between the two.
