JOHOR BAHRU: The Johor State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting, which had been postponed previously, will be held as scheduled this Sunday amid changes at the federal government level.
Johor DUN Speaker Suhaizan Kaiat who confirmed the matter said the sitting will be held for four days until Wednesday (Aug 25) of which each day of the sitting will be shortened to half a day.
He said all state assemblymen and those involved in the sitting are required to take the RTK-Antigen test daily, before the conference begins, adding that they are also encouraged to stay at nearby hotels during the period to avoid making the daily commute from their constituencies.
"So far, nothing has changed, we will see from time to time and the Speaker can postpone if the DUN sitting cannot be conducted as usual," he said when met after handing over contributions to entrepreneurs and taxi operators in Pulai here today.
He said this when asked about the status of the Johor DUN given the current political development in the country where the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government no longer rules the federal government.
When asked about the expectation of an urgent motion, including the possibility of a motion to determine the legitimacy of the PN state government in Johor when the conference convenes this Sunday, he said state assemblymen had the right to submit any motion which would be evaluated by the Speaker to ensure its compliance with the DUN rules.
However, he said no other motions had been received other than the one submitted by Skudai assemblyman Tan Hong Pin related to COVID-19 vaccinations.
Yesterday, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin handed his resignation as prime minister to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah along with his cabinet members.
The king gave consent to Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to act as caretaker Prime Minister until a new Prime Minister is appointed.
