Johor Sultan drives train from KL to Segamat

The Sultan of Johor got behind the wheel of a train again today, this time driving a four-coach train of Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad from the federal capital to Segamat.

Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar started the 378km journey here at about 10am and is expected to pull into the Segamat railway station at 4.45pm.

Four days ago, the sultan drove a four-coach train from Johor Baharu Sentral to Segamat.

He had attended the 240th meeting of the Conference of Rulers at Istana Negara here on Wednesday and Thursday.

This is the 10th time that Sultan Ibrahim, who has a locomotive driving licence, has got behind the wheel of a train.

The sultan was accompanied by two KTMB locomotive drivers, Mohd Kamal Asmawi and Supawi Ismail, today. The two drivers have between 10 and 20 years of experience as KTMB locomotive drivers.

KTMB senior manager of marketing (inter-city) Mohd Noordin Kimi recited the 'doa' (prayers) before the sultan pulled the train out of the station here.

Also present was KTMB president Lt Col (Rtd) Sarbini Tijan.
