Jokowi leaves for Brunei

Indonesian President, Joko Widodo and wife Iriana left for Brunei at 8.45 am from the Bunga Raya Complex, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) here today after completing his three-day maiden state visit to Malaysia since Thursday.

Present at the Bunga Raya Complex to send Joko or fondly known as Jokowi off were Foreign Minister, Datuk Seri Anifah Aman; Women, Family and Community Development Minister, Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim; Home Minister and the Minister-in-Attendance Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Malaysia's ambassador to Indonesia, Datuk Seri Zahrain Mohamed Hashim.

Malaysia is the first country visited by Jokowi since he took office as the Indonesian president on Oct 20 last year.

Jokowi's maiden state visit to Malaysia was at the invitation of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah.

Among the outcome of Jokowi's visit were the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Proton and PT Adiperkasa Citra Lestari on Friday (Feb 6) for the development and manufacturing of Indonesia's national car.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak also had a four-eyed meeting with Jokowi in Putrajaya on Friday. This was followed by a delegation meeting.

Among the issues agreed by Malaysia and Indonesia from the meetings were appointing a special envoy to undertake exploratory discussions on their maritime boundaries, creating only one channel for Malaysian recruitment of domestic maids from Indonesia and setting up the Indonesian School in Sarawak.

The school would cater to the educational needs of the children of Indonesian migrant workers in the state.
