JPS issues flood warning for Beaufort

The Drainage and Irrigation Department (JPS) is forecasting the water level of Sg Padas, Beaufort to surpass its danger level at 3am today (Dec 21).
According to JPS website updated at 7 pm Sunday, the water level of Sg Padas in Beaufort and Tenom will reach the levels of 8.34 metres and 175.96 metres which were above their danger levels.
According to the JPS website, when the water level exceeded the danger level at the Sg Padas Station, areas expected to experience rising water levels were B aufort town, Kg. Bakuku, Kg Lalangut, Kg Pintas, Kg Limbawang, Kg Melati, Kg Suasa, Kg Lingkuhulu and low-lying areas around Sg Padas.
The website also advised residents in the affected areas to be alert and take appropriate actions.
The JPS also reminded residents in low-lying areas near Sg Padas in Beaufort and Tenom to be alert on the situation.
Meanwhile, Sabah Department of Civil Defence (JPAM) Director, Colonel (PA)
Mulliadi Al-Hamdi Bin Ladin said the agency's personnel were carrying out monitoring on nine locations in Beaufort to ensure immediate steps could be taken when necessary.
In Tenom, he said rain was still falling and the JPAM was monitoring the situation in Kampung Pantongan where the water level was beginning to rise.
