MCA deputy president Datuk Wee Ka Siong has advised Member of Parliament for Seputeh Teresa Kok to apologise over the latter's Chinese New Year (CNY) video clip for the good of Malaysians.
He said Teresa should be more sensitive and mature in airing messages to the public as espoused in Chinese culture.
"If Muslims seek forgiveness during Aidilfitri, as Chinese, we should utter words that will bring good fortune to others. This is part of charity to others.
"We do not want people to regard Chinese culture curses and ridicules others during the CNY festival. That's not our culture which teaches us to do good things for the good of everyone and not hurting other people's feelings," he told reporters at the Sabah MCA's CNY dinner here on Sunday night.
Sabah Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman, and Urban and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal were present.
Teresa is alleged to have uploaded the video clip titled 'Onederful Malaysia CNY 2014 Video Clip' on YouTube' on January 27 that poked fun on a variety of issues such as the education system, and Sulu terrorist intrusion in Lahad Datu, Sabah last year.
Wee also asked the police to be fair in investigations on reports lodged over the issue, including that of Teresa.
On a cash reward allegedly from Muslim NGOs to anyone who could slap Teresa, he said the MCA was against it as it was an irrational conduct which was against the Malaysian culture.
