The movie 'Kabali' starring Tamil film superstar Rajinikanth, is only a fiction movie which must be seen from merely the entertainment aspect and not be used to trigger controversy.

MIC supreme council member Datuk P. Kamalanathan, who saw the premier screening of the film on Thursday, said he disagreed with claims that the position of the Indians was undermined in the script of the film which was shot in several locations in Malaysia.

"This is a fiction film and is only taken as a story. The truth is that the government has taken numerous initiatives to boost the welfare of the Indian community. The agenda to uphold and empower the development of the Indian community will be continued," he said when met by reporters after opening a Penalty Kicking Competition organised by the Malaysian Synergy Association (SYNERGY) at a football field in Bestari Jaya here, today.

He was commenting on a local Malay daily report today which among others reported the dialogue of the 65-year-old Rajinikanth as disappointing since it claimed Indians in this country were being oppressed by the other communities.

Kamalanathan who is also deputy Education Minister said the Indian community must realise that the Barisan Nasional government was the best for the community and had also built new Tamil schools.

In another development, Kamalanathan suggested that the competition, which was being held for the first time, be expanded nationwide.

He also praised the SYNERGY volunteer team which entered the Malaysia Book of Records today for offering the tallest trophy in Malaysia which stands at 4.8 metre marking the event as a Malaysian icon for all categories of sports.

The trophy named SYNERGY Cup, was almost half the height of the tallest trophy in the world which was recorded in the Guinness World Records in India in 2015.
