Kajang voters bored with PKR's political games - Dr M
Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said Monday he felt that the voters of the Kajang state constituency are bored with the political games of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) which had forced the by-election there, though it was not legally wrong.
He also said that PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, whom the party has named as its candidate for the by-election, did not respect the law because he continued to talk about his court case in his political 'ceramah' (talks).
"A person who does not respect the law has no right to be a leader. Leaders must be people who abide by the laws and regulations. Only then will the country be peaceful. The country will be destroyed if we have as a leader someone who does not respect the law," he said.
Dr Mahathir spoke to reporters after solo cyclist Wan Hashim Wan Mahmood, 68, called on him at the Perdana Leadership Foundation, here. Wan Hashim launched his mission on Jan 26 to cycle solo around peninsular Malaysia.
The Election Commission (EC) has announced March 11 and nomination day and March 23 as polling day for the by-election, necessitated by the sudden resignation of PKR assemblyman Lee Chin Cheh on Jan 27.
