Teenager Muhammad Syukur Khamis, who earned the nickname ‘Kampong Boy’, expressed sadness when 25 heads of buffaloes belonging to his father were found dead this morning.
Muhammad Syukur, 15, in a Facebook post said this was a great loss to his family and did not rule out the possibility that a disease outbreak had caused the deaths at Kampung Banggol Katong.
“This is likely a seasonal outbreak and we hope it will end soon,” he posted under Syukur Khamis - Kampong Boy Facebook account which showed photographs of the burial process.
Meanwhile, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Seri Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri, in his Facebook page also gave words of encouragement to Muhammad Syukur and his father Khamis Jusoh, 64, reminding them to seek Allah’s help with perseverance and prayers.
Muhammad Syukur became a worldwide sensation among photographers since 2015 for his prowess in interacting with the over 100 heads of buffaloes reared by his father.
A picture of him with a herd of the animals went viral on social media after it was voted best picture in Asia besides being shortlisted as among the top 20 photographs in the world.
