Wanita Umno Executive Committee member Norliza Ahmad died of liver cancer last night at the Selayang Hospital. She was 47.
Kapar Umno Division chief Datuk Abdul Rahman Palil, when contacted by Bernama, confirmed that Norliza died at about 10 pm.
He said Norliza was buried at the Muslim cemetery in Taman Meru, Klang, today.
Norliza, who is the Kapar Wanita Umno chief, was first fielded as a candidate in the general election in 2004 in the Selat Kelang state seat. She beat Ali Abdullah of PAS, winning by a majority of 6,085 votes.
She failed to defend the seat in the general election in 2008, losing to Dr Halimah Ali of PAS by 1,459 votes.
