KDN bans 19 publications deemed detrimental to Malaysian society

Home Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Alwi Ibrahim said the order was issued under Section 7(1) of the Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984 (Act 301).

He said the order stipulated that the printing, importation, production, reproduction, publication, sale, issuance, circulation, distribution or possession of the publications were absolutely prohibited in Malaysia.

"These publications are banned because their contents may be detrimental to to public order, corrupt the minds of the public, jeopardising morality, public interest and national security," he said in a statement here Thursday.

Of the total, 13 publications were found to have contained sexually explicit articles or images which were against the norms of the Malaysian society.

The publications are Revenge of the Sarong Party Girl, Fifty Shades of Bliss: The Ultimate Guide To Spicing Up Your Sex Life, Maxim (Vol 18, No. 9 November 2014) (USA Edition), Maxim (Vol 18, No. 5 June 2014) (USA Edition), Pop Psychedelic, Only Two Can Play, Black Men Special Edition, The Loving Touch, The Book of Loving Sex, 'Kamasutra & Kecerdasan Seks Modern', 'Nikmatnya Melayari Bahtera Malam Pertama', 'Pelacur Kelas Pertama' and 'Nazi Goreng'.

Alwi said three other publications were found to contain misleading information about Islam.

The title of the publications are 'Bila Anak-Anak Bertanya Tentang Allah Dan Alam Ghaib Inilah 48 Jawapannya', 'Tafsir Al-'Usyr Al-Akhir dari Al-Quran Al-Karim Juz (28,29,30) Disertai Hukum-Hukum Penting Bagi Seorang Muslim' and The Gospel of Ali (Islamic Appreciation for Jesus)'.

Three other publications were found to contain elements promoting the fights of the communists and religious extremists.
