The Kedah government will report corrupt state government officers to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah.
He said government officers had been warned enough about staying away from corruption and the time had come for action against the corrupt.
"We do not want government officers or contractors working for the government to be involved in corruption. We will report them (to the MACC) and they will have to face the consequences," he said.
Ahmad Bashah spoke to reporters after opening a forum to explain the proposed amendments to the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965 and a programme on the Transformation of Islamic Thought here today.
He said corruption, particularly in government projects, hampered development due to leakages.
The forum was attended by about 3,000 people comprising penghulu, chairmen of village development and security committees, mosque officials, civil servants and tertiary students. - BERNAMA
