Kedah is taking a 'wait and see' approach before making any decision on banning vape in the state, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir.
He said for now, the state government would observe what other states were doing and at the same time conduct some research before making an announcement soon.

"Right now, we have not made any ruling. I have received reports that the Fatwa Council had cited health reasons as the main concern why vape is forbidden so we have to consider that too," he told a press conference after chairing the weekly state executive council meeting at Wisma Darul Aman today.
The Kedah Fatwa Committee, at a meeting on Nov 23, decided to ban vaping and shisha smoking for Muslims, saying these could lead to health issues and wastage.
On Monday, Melaka decided to ban the sale and use of electronic cigarettes and vape in the state, while Negeri Sembilan today decided to allow its sale, taking into account the non-Muslims who vape but prohibited sale to Muslims.
