Kedah UMNO Youth has lodged a police report against Pokok Sena MP Datuk Mahfuz Omar for barging into the Kedah State Assembly along with some supporters to hand over a memorandum when its sitting ended yesterday.
The report was lodged by its executive secretary Mohd Tahir Md Zain at the Kota Setar police headquarters here this morning.
Kedah UMNO Youth chief Datuk Shaiful Hazizy Zainol Abidin, who was also present, said the action by Mahfuz who entered the assembly hall to meet Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah was uncalled for.
"He was trying to seek cheap publicity. He could have waited at the lobby area but resorted to unbecoming behaviour. We urge the police to investigate the matter and take the appropriate action so that such incidents do not recur.
Mahfuz along with some 14 supporters resorted to the action to protest proposed acquisition of their land in Kampung Baru, Jalan Padang Tembak, Bukit Pinang by Permodalan Kedah Berhad for a housing project for civil servants. -- Bernama
