Kelab Putra 1Malaysia to help flood victims
Kelab Putra 1 Malaysia (KP1M) has deployed its first team of volunteers to supply basic necessities to flood victims in the east coast states of Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan.
The first team of 25 volunteers start their journey to the devastated states tonight, taking along mattresses, blankets, drinking water, toiletries and candies.
The mission would be led by KP1M Deputy President Muhamad Yadzan Mohamad and KP1M treasurer Abdul Mutalif Abdul Rahim.
Muhamad said KP1M was instructed by its president Datuk Abdul Azeez Abdu Rahim to deploy its volunteers during a telephone conversation.
"Five container lorries, three heavy duty four-wheel drive vehicles, two ambulances, two 3-tonne lorries and four cars will bring all the goods and 25 volunteers, including two medical teams," he said when met at the Gombak Toll Plaza.
He said Abdul Azeez will join the mission as soon as he returned from a humanitarian aid mission in the Philippines, tomorrow night.
Meanwhile, medical assistant Ruhaida Abdullah, 21, said she was excited to volunteer for the mission after graduating three months ago.
"I am a medical assistant at White Medic Ambulance services here in Ampang. I happened to come from Terengganu and I am proud to be chosen to join this humanitarian mission," she said.
Ruhaida is the only female joining the first team of volunteers tonight.
The team which left at 11pm is expected to reach their first stop in Terengganu by 6am tomorrow.
