The Kelantan government is ready to face lawsuits from any party in its effort to implement the Syariah Criminal Code II 1993 (Amendment 2015), said the State Hudud Permanent Secretariat Head, Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan.
"We understand that a political party has filed a lawsuit against the state government recently.
"For me this is 'not gentlemanly' because they do not understand the matter and it has not been passed yet (when the suit was filed last Wednesday) but they continue to take it to the court," he said.
Takiyuddin, who is also PAS assistant secretary-general, told this reporters, Monday.
Gerakan's legal team had filed in the Kota Baharu High Court an originating summons against the state government to challenge the code's constitutionality.
The suit was filed on March 18, the same day as the enactment was tabled in the state legislative assembly.
