The PAS-led Kelantan government is definitely ready to implement hudud law in the state, said Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob.
He said the state government had made thorough preparation in terms of the method and infrastructure to implement the law.
"We are fully prepared and the rules are already there, now (we are)just waiting for the green light.
"PAS president (Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang) has submitted a notice to table the private bill in the Parliament, but too many other bills need to be tabled, we will make every effort to implement the law," he said after delivering a speech on hudud and Goods and Services Tax (GST) at Pasir Pekan here last night.
Ahmad stressed that non-Muslims needed not to worry because hudud only applied to Muslims.
On April 15, the Kelantan Syariah Criminal Code (II) Technical Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said the state government needed to resubmit the notice to table a private member's bill in Dewan Rakyat at its next sitting to enable the bill on hudud to be debated by the members of Parliament.
Abdul Hadi, who is also the MP for Marang, had earlier submitted a notice to table the motion at the Dewan Rakyat on March 18 to enable him to table the bill to amend the Syariah Court Act (Criminal Jurisdiction) 1965 to pave the way for the implementation of hudud in Kelantan.
The private member's bill had been entered as the last item (No.24) for tabling at the meeting on April 7 but there was no time to debate it until the Dewan Rakyat was adjourned on April 9.
The Kelantan State Legislative Assembly had passed the Syariah Criminal Code
II Bill 1993 (Amendment 2015), or hudud on March 19 after being supported by 44
state assemblymen including 12 from the Barisan Nasional.
