Kelantan Palace clarifies use of royal titles

The Kelantan Palace has issued a statement clarifying the use of titles including Permaisuri Kelantan, Raja Perempuan Kelantan, Sultanah Kelantan or Queen of Kelantan without the official announcement.

The statement issued on Monday, added that Yang Teramat Mulia, Dr Tengku Muhamad Faiz Petra Ibni Sultan Ismail Petra is the Tengku Mahkota of Kelantan and His Royal Highness, Sultan Muhammad V's mother, Yang Maha Mulia Tengku Anis binti Almarhum Tengku Abdul Hamid is titled Raja Perempuan Tengku Anis.

"Only official announcement from Kelantan Palace can be taken into account as accurate and acceptable news by the people and media practitioners," it added.

The Palace calls for the people and media practitioners not to be easily influenced by the dissemination of unverified information on social media.

The statement was signed by the Comptroller of The Royal Household, Datuk Nik Mohd Shafriman Nik Hassan.

This follows the widespread report of the alleged divorce surrounding the Sultan of Kelantan from his Russian model wife, Rihana Oksana Gorbatenko.

Meanwhile a source close to the Kelantan Palace confirms the royal couple are divorced.

Oksana, 26, is said to have been divorced soon after giving birth to her first son, Tengku Ismail Leon Petra Tengku Muhammad V Faris Petra on May 21, 2019.

The divorce filed in the Singapore Syariah Court falls under the triple 'talak' category which imposes several hurdles which needs to be fulfilled should the couple decide to get back together.
