The Kelantan Red Crescent Society (PBSM) urgently needs contributions like vehicles and mobile kitchens from the private sector to carry out its work during disasters.
Its advisory board member Datuk Wan Ali Wan Ahmad said to date, Kelantan PBSM only had a one tonne lorry, three ambulances and a four-wheel drive vehicle.
"We have almost 500 volunteers statewide but face constraints especially in terms of assets, especially vehicles to conduct rescue work during disasters including floods.
"We fervently hope the corporate sector can contribute assets like vehicles and mobile kitchens to facilitate efforts to help disaster victims," he said.
He said this to reporters after handing over flood aid to 61 families who were affected by floods in Pulau Tokang, here today.
Present were Communications and Multimedia Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Sharifah Zarah Syed Ahmad, who is also a member of the advisory board of Kelantan PBSM and its chairman Tuan Ghazali Tuan Long. - BERNAMA
