KOTA BHARU: Kelantan has reminded the public in the state to refrain from outdoor activities with the arrival of the Northeast Monsoon season.
Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud said this was due to the state facing uncertain weather accompanied by heavy rain.
"Due to uncertain weather conditions, please avoid such activities temporarily. Stay informed about the weather conditions for the convenience and safety of everyone," he posted on Facebook today.
Kelantan Civil Defence Force director Mohd Adzhar Mujab said that outdoor activities can pose significant risks, particularly in dangerous locations where prompt response would be challenging.
"This unpredictable weather makes travelling to such places challenging. If such activities are necessary, please notify the authorities or the nearest security.
"Based on the weather forecast, Kelantan has begun to experience prolonged rain on the east coast areas. Therefore any party wishing to organise outdoor activities must be wise in assessing the weather at the location," he told Bernama.
Meanwhile, a Bernama check found that several areas in Kota Bharu, including Melor and Panji, Kampung Lubok Nibong Pak Badol in Bachok, Kampung Jerus, Sungai Kelong in Pasir Puteh, and Masjid Pulai Chondong, Machang, had been flooded following non-stop rain since yesterday.
In addition, several roads have also been cut off around Kota Bharu and Pasir Puteh due to stagnant water.
