“I’m sorry, mak. I'm really sorry .. I seek your forgiveness and if time permits, I will come and sleep with you, mak.”
These words were the final uttered by Noor Amila Edrus Norsham, 5, to his mother, Siti Nursharmila Tengku Hanafiah last Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
Siti Nursharmila, 46 said she did not expect her son’s words were the final and that the time spent on the first day of Hari Raya with her in Kepong, Selangor was the last celebration with her beloved son.
Edrus, the eldest of two siblings live with his father and stepmother in Jinjang Utara here was reportedly missing on Aug 11 and his remains were retrieved in Kampung Kemensah, Hulu Kelang at approximately 12.30pm today.
“The first day of Hari Raya was the last moment spent with Edrus,” said an inconsolable Siti Nursharmila when met by Bernama at Kuala Lumpur Hospital mortuary here today.
Understandably, the grief-stricken Siti Nursharmila collapsed right after she identified her son’s remains earlier.
When prodded, Siti Nursharmila said she found it difficult to fathom the real motive behind her son’s death.
Bernama reported that Edrus’s remains were retrieved after a man allegedly linked to his disappearance led the police to the site.
On the day of his disappearance, Edrus had reportedly left his home to join the Maghrib prayer congregation at a nearby surau in Jinjang.
“Edrus would attend the prayers the moment he heard the call to prayer (azan),” said Nursharmila who works as a sales attendant at Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC).
Edrus’ father, Norsyam Jalil, 63 said he accepted the fate of his son’s death.
“I leave the matter to the authorities and hopes justice will be served,” he added.
According to Norsyam, Edrus was special and has started going to the mosques at the tender age of four.
“He loved reading the Quran and was so close to me,” said Norsyam.
