The Federal Territories Ministry has allocated RM70,000 for each area under its jurisdiction to organise the 'Kenduri 1Wilayah' programme as an annual event in conjunction with the Federal Territories Day celebration, said its minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.
"All the programmes in Kuala Lumpur are organised with the cooperation of Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) while the ones in Putrajaya and Labuan will be held jointly with the respective local bodies," he told reporters after launching the Kenduri 1Wilayah programme to celebrate the 40th Federal Territories Day at the compound of Taman Miharja, Cheras here on Saturday.
He said starting from Cheras Parliament, the programme would be continued at Bandar Tun Razak and followed by 11 other Parliamentary areas until the end of February.
Earlier in his speech, he said, the function was held in collaboration with DBKL to strengthen ties between the government leaders and DBKL with the local community through 'gotong-royong' activities.
"The ministry chooses the 'gotong-royong' way to give the opportunity to leaders from all levels to go to the ground to be with the people, thus, enhancing existing relations and also among the community itself," he said.
He hoped the solidarity among city dwellers from the various communities could be emulated by all, highlighting the Federal Territories' role, especially Kuala Lumpur as a window to the global community.
